Missing U (and N)

I don't like being alone.

A majority of the Hdez platoon is in the middle of the desert right now, 10+ hours away from Camp Castro Valley. I am home alone this weekend. Last night, I called up nederlands and went to dinner at his place with magicjohnsonmadness and tweakerh8r (a new student of mine). It was a good time, though certainly the powers-that-be might frown upon such non-sexual, perfectly legal and ethically sound fraternization with students. This morning I awoke to the T.V. in the bedroom left on and a puddle of drool on the left side of my pillow.

I don't have a dog.

Groggy, I went to the internet and stared at my favorite page, CNN.com.

"Why isn't there anything happening right now?"

I then proceeded to grab my Starbucks giftcard and get breakfast:
1 medium Verona (I refuse to use Starbuck lingo)
1 pumpkin scone
1 Egg sandwhich thing.

I sat at a rickety-rockety table that caused me to spill a 1/4 of my coffee on my scone and sandich while some douchebag looked in amusement.

Schadenfreude sucks when you are the one being schadened on.

I then went home, called Leah from San Leandro, a lady interested in buying the White Car (and it looks like she is going to).

So now, I sit here, typing this and contemplating the contents of a current MS Word document while the wonderful organized sounds and kickass guitar playing of Andy Mckee play loudly:

You see, I am writing a paper on a topic that I am supposed to speak on a week from today in Charlotte, NC. Just like in college, I am procrastinating. Why? Cause I don't have the platoon here to drive me nuts and make me focus on this.

Isn't it strange how free time and solitude work?
