An open letter to the captain
Dear Captain,
This past weekend, I embarked on a voyage you would be quite proud of. Using only my wits and the help of a trusted deckhand, I sought to learn about and utilize the skills necessary to shore up and beautify the galley of my new ship. In the past, I have evaded learning the craft of maintaining one's sailing vessel. Indeed, I remember when I was but a young lad you tried to get me to assist in the walling of our fortress in Virginia. I was only interested in playing with Matchbox cars and not at all in learning those things which I kick myself for not knowing now. Well, I actively seek to learn all that I can about ship maintenance so that I may be a self reliant young skipper and hopefully grow up to be even a 1/4 of the captain you are now.
Here are some pictures of my past adventure (taken by the Wifer, sea wench extraordinaire).
Before: a filthy and mollusk infested deck

After: a shiny and pristine deck

Also, notice the difference in the ship's water supply (the sink). I changed that too. Here is a pic of the master flooring diagram (dutifully drawn on the back of a pizza box):

I'll keep you posted of other such voyages.
Always your first mate,
Skipper Hdez
