Title anyone?
I've been hard at work on my long overdue piece for clarinet and piano. You may recall I agreed to write said work over 9 months ago. Well, after much procrastination accompanied by the usual fits and starts, I've got something that I like and I'll probably finish it this week. I seriously put my nose to the grind on Friday (two days ago) and have about 5:30 written. It is a bit more romantic than I usually write and I think that is because of all the Brahms I've been listening to in 2007 (lots!). The Inc. is asking for a title so that it can be included in the program for a February 12 premiere (yes - this upcoming February). I don't have a title except maybe Concerto for Clarinet: I. because the writing is very concerto-ish. But, I think that is a dumb title and it locks me into writing a goddamn clarinet concerto (which I am not sure I want to do).
Meanwhile, I've found this random abstract art title generator. My first three presses produced:
The Fatal Contrast
Season with Dimensionality
Objective Continuation
I don't really like any of those. The working title I've got now is Perpendicularity. But I have to tell you that I really hate that title. Maybe Perpendisticles? It goes with my penchant for titles with phallic connotations.

my suggestions are equally dumb:
"Piece for Clarinet and Piano"
Or maybe:
"For Clarinet and Piano"
Because I tend to think titles are dumb in general, and so they might as well just tell you what it is.
Yeah, sorry, no gemstones here. Good luck.
If you use any of those titles, I'm going to kick you in the balls.
